My Story
As a child, I remember my Nana Chelo, taking me to cenadurías—small, home-based eateries filled with the comfort of homemade food. She believed in fresh tortillas every morning, no fast food, and always sharing her homemade food with others. My mom’s cooking shaped me, too, and I always knew that one day, I’d open a restaurant.
During COVID my mom passed away. One year later, I met my half-sister, and when I tasted her food, it felt like home. I told her, "I’ve been wanting this for a while," and that is when I dreamed of opening up a local taqueria.
Food is more than just a meal—it’s a memory, a connection, and a way to care for others. That’s the kind of experience I want to share with our community.
This taqueria isn’t just about serving great food—it’s about creating a place for family to have a meal, friends to meet, and enjoy a good homemade meal. My Nana Chelo always made sure no one went hungry, whether it was neighbors, our local police officer would drive around the block, and Nana Chelo would flag them down to hand over homemade food and something to drink. Nana Chelo taught me how to give back and always strive in whatever I set my mind to. That lesson stayed with me, leading me to earn a Master of Science in Counseling/Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy.
I want this place to be more than a taqueria. If you need a place to talk, this is the place for you. Therapy and tacos—a place of nourishment, conversation, and community. My husband, a 20-year disabled veteran, and I are honored to serve you, not just food but kindness, just like my Nana Chelo did. Bienvenidos a Ten-Go Tacos.
